Learn healthy vocal techniques for singing, sounding, and speaking. This all-levels workshop will help you take your voice to the next level of confidence and expression. Absolute beginners welcome!
Experience the healing and transformative effects of sound vibrations in this connecting workshop. Learn freedom and spirit songs from around the world. Play, improvise, discover your own natural language, get expressive and silly, and have fun. You will leave feeling more connected to yourself and others, to your body as your instrument, and to your ability to sing! You will have a deeper embodied understanding of both the technical and emotional and psychological aspects of the voice so that you can express yourself with more freedom.
Workshop will include:
vocal warmup that help you learn how to build and tune your body instrument with breath support, core engagement, proper posture, open throat, resonance, projection, and more
uplifting world songs
vocal improvisation
expressive arts/play with the voice
sound meditations to tune your whole body instrument
small groups and dyads for more intimate connection, singing & play
harmonizing
embodied sounding and sound healing

About Phoenix
Phoenix Song is a queer, nonbinary Korean American adoptee performer, writer, teacher, and healer featured in SF Magazine's Best of the Bay. They specialize in world fusion and sacred ritual through Korean shamanic music, Indian classical, neo-soul, and wordless chanting. Phoenix has performed at Queer and Asian Conference, Empowering Women of Color Festival, Reimagine Festival at SF Jazz, SF Pride Main Stage, Asian Heritage Festival main stage, the Queer Arts Festival, and SF International Arts Festival.
