Grief Circle: Holding Space for Iran + the Middle East

  • Green Yogi Telegraph 2807 Telegraph Avenue Berkeley, CA, 94705 United States (map)

Join us for a grief circle to honor the pain, fear, loss, mourning and resilience within our hearts as we witness the ongoing struggles across Iran and the broader Middle East.

What to Expect

This 90-minute circle offers a compassionate container for expressing our grief, fear, hope, and whatever emotions arise when we open our hearts to the suffering in our world. We’ll begin with a time of sharing, where participants are invited to express what’s on their heart—whether it’s personal loss, collective grief, feelings of helplessness, or messages of solidarity. All voices are welcome; sharing is entirely optional.

Following our circle of shares, we’ll transition into guided meditation designed to help hold our pain. We’ll conclude with a period of silent meditation, allowing space for whatever needs to emerge.

A Safe and Sacred Space

This gathering is offered by Nasiem, our Iranian Community holder. We welcome people of all backgrounds who feel moved to process their emotions around the current situation in Iran and the Middle East. Whether you have personal connections to the region, are moved by global events, or simply need space to feel and process, you belong here.

We hold deep awareness that humanitarian crises exist throughout our world, and we do not diminish or undermine the pain of anyone experiencing grief for loved ones or homelands anywhere.

This is not a political discussion nor a space to debate ideas. This circle invites people to feel their heartbreak/anger/grief and be met by the grace of community.

We ask all participants to bring their respect, “I feel” statements, openness, and commitment to confidentiality. What is shared in the circle stays in the circle.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in. Meditation props will be available - please bring whatever else might bring comfort to you.
