What is SATYA?

SATYA is a unique approach that emphasizes the integration of sensory awareness with yoga. Through finely articulated movements performed on the floor, SATYA unites breath and motion, promoting myofascial release without strain. The essence of SATYA lies not just in the somatic movements but in fostering inner listening and cultivating heightened proprioceptive awareness. The outcome? A harmonious union of mind, body, and breath that enables practitioners to become more sentient and wakeful beings in the world.

SATYA (Somatic Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement) is a therapeutic, “yin” style practice. You will practice fine articulated movement on the floor in a flowing fashion, synchronizing breath with movement. The exercises are non-weight bearing and involve sliding, gliding, and circular movements to reduce myofascial holding in the body. When done on the floor, the breath and movement together enable myofascial release without strain. All movements are done slowly, in isolation, and without force. The SATYA movements replenish the body by increasing circulation (the flow of prana) throughout all the tissues of the body. SATYA acts as a “prana pump” to oxygenate the bloodstream and irrigate, or “soak” the tissues.

The SATYA movements cultivate inner listening and support neural-muscular reeducation. While yoga today often emphasizes the “doing” of a posture, SATYA encourages “being” in a movement with heightened awareness.

Why Choose This Immersion?

  • Experienced Guidance: Learn directly from the esteemed Tias Little, who blends his profound knowledge of myofascial release, anatomy, cranial-sacral study, Buddhist studies and yoga to offer a truly holistic training experience. Tias' teachings are enriched with vivid imagery from nature, art, and sacred architecture, ensuring an unparalleled learning journey.

  • Therapeutic Movement: SATYA’s unique floor-based movements, performed slowly and without force, act as a rejuvenating “prana pump”, enhancing circulation and soaking the tissues, leading to myofascial release without strain.

  • Deepen Sensory Awareness: By fostering inner listening and heightened proprioceptive awareness, SATYA sharpens the body's innate intelligence.

  • Meditative Insights: As a movement meditation, SATYA elevates vipassana (insight) into the body's sensory-motor pathways, making it a sanctuary for your mind, reducing fatigue and tension, and setting the stage for profound rest and clarity.

  • Holistic Learning Experience: This immersive journey encompasses guided meditation, sound resonance, dharma study, visualization training, and SATYA practice.

  • Beneficial for Teachers: Especially tailored for yoga instructors working therapeutically or with aging populations, this course serves as a potent tool to mobilize and rejuvenate the body's connective tissues.

  • This  immersion is open to all practitioners, yoga teachers and therapists, as well teachers in training. Yoga teachers can benefit from the SATYA 1 in numerous ways:

Deepen Your Personal Practice: Understanding and integrating SATYA principles can take a yoga teacher's personal practice to new depths, enhancing their own sensory awareness and connection with their body.

Therapeutic Application: SATYA, with its therapeutic "yin" style approach, offers techniques that can be especially useful for teachers working with students recovering from injuries, those with chronic pain, or individuals with mobility issues.

Diversify Your Teaching Skills: Adding SATYA to their repertoire allows yoga teachers to offer something unique and differentiated in their classes, workshops, or retreats.

Work with Aging Populations: The gentle, non-weight bearing movements of SATYA are particularly beneficial for older students, providing teachers with tools to offer specialized classes or modifications for senior practitioners.

Broaden Your Outreach: The skills learned from SATYA, can be applied to multiple populations: rehabilitation centers, working with the elderly, counseling, working with children.

Enhance Your Mind-Body Connection: SATYA emphasizes the "being" in movement, rather than just "doing" a posture. Teachers can impart this deeper level of mindfulness and presence to their students, elevating the overall yoga experience.
